Overview

Following the identification of significant corrosion and structural deterioration within the OPF1 and OPF2 Crushing and Screening Surge Bin buildings at Fortescue's Christmas Creek operation, Linkforce delivered specialist rope access remediation works to restore the integrity of critical steelwork. What began as a targeted overplating program evolved into a broader structural replacement campaign after additional defects were identified through close inspection. Using rope access, advanced inspection techniques and engineered repair methodologies, the team safely accessed and remediated areas that were otherwise inaccessible through conventional means.

Outcome 

Linkforce successfully delivered a staged structural remediation program across the OPF1 and OPF2 surge bin facilities, progressing from targeted overplating works to the replacement of heavily deteriorated structural steel identified during inspection activities. Using 3D scanning, ultrasonic thickness testing and bespoke rope access methodologies, the team safely replaced critical structural members, flooring and large modular sections within confined bin environments. Supported by complex rigging systems, temporary structural reinforcement and protective coating application, the works restored the integrity of critical processing infrastructure while maintaining schedule performance across more than 13,000 work hours.
