Overview
Linkforce delivered a major rebuild of a triple-cell car dumper at BHP's Nelson Point operation, replacing critical components that were approaching the end of their serviceable life. The project addressed ageing trunnions, deteriorating rolling rails and associated infrastructure through a comprehensive mechanical, electrical and structural upgrade. Delivered within a constrained shutdown environment, the works required specialist lifting methodologies, integrated multi-disciplinary coordination and extensive car dumper expertise.

Outcome
Linkforce successfully completed the rebuild of the triple-cell car dumper, including the replacement of trunnions, rolling rails, cell components, electrical cabling, sensors and associated mechanical systems. Using engineered stands, 100-tonne hydraulic lifting rams, specialised rigging techniques and battery-powered rail trolleys, the team safely executed complex works within highly constrained areas while maintaining multiple concurrent work fronts. The project was delivered 36 hours ahead of schedule with zero LTIs, improving asset reliability and minimising downtime for a critical rail unloading asset.
