Overview

Following the identification of critical maintenance and isolation risks across several conveyor systems, Linkforce delivered major Gravity Take-Up Unit (GTU) upgrades at Rio Tinto's Paraburdoo operation. The project involved structural modifications, new isolation pin assemblies and upgraded support mechanisms across five conveyor assets, improving the safety and efficiency of maintenance activities while enhancing the reliability of critical conveying infrastructure.

Outcome 

Linkforce successfully commissioned four GTU upgrades within the May 2025 shutdown window, achieving zero plant downtime despite changing shutdown durations and evolving project requirements. The completed works introduced new isolation systems, structural upgrades and advanced support mechanisms that simplified maintenance activities, reduced exposure to operational risks and improved the long-term safety, reliability and maintainability of critical conveyor infrastructure.
