Paraburdoo Cone Crusher Upgrades

Linkforce was engaged to upgrade aging Cone Crushers at Rio Tinto’s Paraburdoo mine, replacing two Secondary and four Tertiary Crushers that had exceeded their design life. The project addressed critical reliability, safety, and maintenance issues while the plant remained operational. Delivered on time and within budget, the upgrade significantly improved the long-term performance and safety of the crushing infrastructure.

OVERVIEW

Linkforce was engaged to deliver critical upgrades to the Cone Crushers at Rio Tinto’s Paraburdoo mine site. Originally commissioned in 1972 with a design life of 25 years, the crushers had far exceeded their intended operational lifespan. This led to declining reliability, increased maintenance costs, and limited availability of OEM-specific rotable components. Additionally, the equipment lacked modern safety features and maintainability standards, including up-to-date condition monitoring and reliability systems.

The project scope involved the removal and replacement of two Secondary Crushers and four Tertiary Crushers, along with associated ancillary equipment and structural supports within the process plant.

Despite the complexity, Linkforce successfully delivered the project on time and within budget, while maintaining full plant operations. Our proactive planning, technical expertise, and deep site knowledge enabled us to exceed client expectations, minimise disruption, and significantly improve the long-term safety and reliability of the crushing infrastructure.
