The Yandi Fixed Plant Workshop Project was undertaken on behalf of Rio Tinto as a design and construct contract.

The site is in a remote location approximately 80km North West of Newman and comprises of a 2275m2, 8 bay workshop, tool store, locker room, 1735m2 office complex along with all supporting infrastructure.

Project requirements were to lift out and replace vibrating screen and any other works with in the area as part of scheduled shutdown maintenance plan.

Replace and repair all worn liners and parent metal in the oversize hood.
Replace and repair all worn liners and parent metal in the oversize chute.
Replace all dampers and springs in undersize chute.
Remove existing rubber in under size chute and replace with ceramic wear tiles
Reinstate ready for plant start up.


Location: Eastern Pilbara Mine Site

Project goal: Replace the existing vibrating grizzly and repair existing feed chute.

The primary crusher received extensive damage when an oversized boulder became lodged within the jaw crusher, and due to that piece of the plant not having a rock breaker, explosives were used to breakdown the boulder.
