Yandicoogina Truss Replacement Works

Linkforce successfully delivered a critical truss replacement for the YCV213 conveyor at Rio Tinto’s Yandicoogina mine. As a key component in the ore handling system, the conveyor required structural upgrades to support increased capacity and resolve long-standing integrity issues. Custom-engineered trusses were fabricated and installed to withstand complex operational and environmental loads. Drawing on a wide range of Linkforce’s in-house capabilities, the project was completed on schedule with minimal disruption, significantly enhancing the conveyor’s safety and reliability. 

OVERVIEW 

Linkforce was engaged to manage the fabrication and execution of a critical truss replacement for the YCV213 conveyor at Rio Tinto’s Yandicoogina mine site. This conveyor is a vital link in the ore handling system, transferring material from YCV212 and the tertiary crushers to the Screening building. Originally constructed in 2004 and expanded in 2014 to support increased screening capacity, the structure required significant upgrades to address long-standing structural concerns and meet growing operational demands. 

The replacement trusses were custom engineered to withstand the complex static and dynamic loads imposed by the shuttle system and environmental conditions, ensuring long-term structural integrity and performance. 

The project encompassed a broad range of service areas, including electrical, HDPE, civil, structural, fabrication, mechanical, shutdown, transport, scaffolding, and rope access. Through meticulous planning and execution, Linkforce delivered the project on schedule with minimal disruption to operations, significantly improving the reliability and safety of the conveyor infrastructure.
